TAMPA, Fla. – J. M. Ashmore has seen so many instances where people of all ages, not just kids, get upset about things when there could be better solutions to problems. She thinks everyone yearns for peace of mind. It is for this reason she now releases “Prickles the Porcupine Learns about Peace” (published by LifeRich Publishing), a fun, educational children's story about a porcupine who learns to pursue peace instead of conflict.
Prickles the Porcupine wanted some peace and quiet but he could not relax or sleep when Patty, a puppy, was nearby! Patty was always making digging noises that annoyed Prickles when he wanted to go to sleep in his den. Prickles unsuccessfully tried to frighten Patty away and even became angry, but then he learned a better way.
“This book is written with young children in mind because they love animal stories. It is beautifully illustrated and includes story questions and answers to help with reading comprehension as well as interesting facts about porcupines,” Ashmore says.
When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, Ashmore answered, “I would love for readers to develop communication and problem solving skills instead of becoming angry and aggressive.”
